Journal for young ballerinas

As the title says, this is a journal and not a story book. It enables the user to record information over a year about their ballet class, friends, dress codes, ballet positions as well as giving reminders on different aspects of ballet - steps, moves, ways to stretch and the like. It also has space to record most embarrassing moments, dance roles, make up used and performances. Additionally there is a dictionary of Ballet terms. This could easily become a keepsake to remember key moments in that young ballerina's year.

What a fantastic book for any ballet dancing young ladies (sorry, not really appropriate for boy ballet dancers as all illustrations are of girls - unless they like wearing leotards, their hair in a bun, tiaras, etc though much of the rest would be fine for either gender)! It is a great guide to new ballet dancers, offering tips and guidance. It is also a colouring book enabling the user to totally personalise their journal by both their art work and their entries. It could easily be used to record progress throughout its use. Very personal point of view, wish it was also appropriate for male dancers - with images of them as well as female ones. hence the rating. For girls it would be higher, boys lower so gave it a middle rating.

It's a journal that every ballerina would like to have

Given To Me For An Honest Review

My Ballet Journal by Monica Wellington is NOT a storybook. It's a journal that every ballerina would like to have. This journal can hold all of a ballerina's ballet needs. It is also an activity book. Included are ballet positions and hair and makeup ideas. There are many tips and ballet suggestions included. At the end of the book is a glossary of words that ballerinas use. This journal is a great place for every ballerina to keep all of her secrets. I gave this 5 stars but it deserves many more. I just loved it!! I highly recommend it to everyone, especially anyone who has a child in ballet. I look for more from Monica Wellington.

Sweet and Encouraging

An adorable book. I can see myself giving this to one of my nieces. So sweet. No story involved but the story your child will create. I feel it is an encouraging journal and also reinforces some of the basic ballet poses. I especially liked the embarrassing moment page. Makes you think you are not alone when you goof.

About the Author
Marv Wolfman is one of the most acclaimed writers in the comic book industry, having written Crisis on Infinite Earths, The New Teen Titans, Batman, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Tomb of Dracula. His script work for the Epic Mickey 2 videogame was nominated by the Writers Guild of America for "Outstanding Achievement in Videogame Writing. His novelization of Superman Returns won the Scribe Award for "Best Adapted Novel," and he wrote the official novelization for Crisis on Infinite Earths.

A fine adaptation of the game.

Overall, Marv Wolfman does an excellent job of translating Arkham Knight's story into novel form. The story manages to hit all the same beats as the game, and most of the main story remains intact. There aren't any huge revelations found in the book, but there are a few interesting details that weren't in the game, and certain scenes that felt more powerful.

I do have a few criticisms. Batman's conversations with his allies are much longer, which do help give us more character insight, but may have been better served as internal monologues. It can be occasionally awkward when Batman is having extended conversations even when he's supposed to be pressed for time. As I would have expected, almost all of the sidequests are cut out of the novel as well. One of the downsides of this is that the Militia doesn't feel like as big of a threat as they do in the game, and don't feel like they've got the whole city overrun. Another is that most of the villains who appeared in the game don't show up in the book. In fairness, most of them don't do much in the game either, but it means that we lose Riddler's sideplot, and Two-Face doesn't confront Batman despite a cameo near the beginning of the book. In defense of Wolfman, when you working with adaptations of video games, you have to cut something out, otherwise the story would drag too much. There's probably not much he could've done to keep every significant sideplot intact.

While I can't go into detail because of spoilers, there were a few scenes that Marv took in a slightly different direction than the game did, in a way that I felt weakened them. I also think his handling of the Arkham Knight could have been better. In the book, he always treats his desire to kill Batman pretty casually, and I don't think he ever conveys the rage he feels towards Batman. He feels like less of a threat because of that.

Despite it's shortcomings, it's definitely worth picking up for any fans who want to experience Arkham Knight's story from a different angle.

I thought this was a great book, especially since I can't afford Arkham Knight. It was very detailed and had an amazing story. I felt like this was a very satisfying conclusion to the Arkham Games (in book form).

About the Author
Leslie Newman is a world authority on polyclad flatworms, having discovered and described more than 100 new species. A graduate in marine biology from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, Leslie completed her doctoral studies in Queensland, and is now at Southern Cross University, Australia.

Lester Cannon has recently retired as Senior Curator of lower invertebrates at the Queensland Museum, Australia. He undertook his doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, Canada, and pursued his post-doctoral studies on parasite ecology in California, USA.

Prize winning photography and text by the experts!

This gorgeous book won the Eureka prize for best science writing. It is full of amazing pictures and amazing information about a group of animals that aren't seen very often on reefs but are a real treat. The authors are world experts, so this is an authoritative book, yet very easy to read.

An unknown world

Marine Flatworms : The wolrd of Polyclads leads the reader into an unknown world. As a diver I had sometimes notices these ephemere animals, gliding like little carpets over the reef, but I had never really given them a second look. This book - without being just for the biologically initiated - provides you with information on everything you have never thought you would know about these aninmals that are too fragile to be picked up at all - and this includes mimicry, eating and reproduction habits. It even includes a guide how too catch them (not to be recommended, I would think). In its colourfull photographs many sepcies of flatworms are presented; often so unknown to science that they have no name as yet. A must for divers and biologists interested in the Pacific and elsewhere.

Great book!

The best popular book about wounderfull colorfull worms which, can be easily confused with nudibranches! Very interesting chapters about biology, anatomy and ecology of polyclada worms. Very usefull chapter about worms collection and fixation. Latter chapters allow you to identify worms to families, and have many colorfull photographs,which help you to identify them to species level (althrough many polyclada worms are not yet described or need to be dissected before identification).
This unique book will open a woundefull world of marine polyclada flatworms for you!

The only thing which complains me is a quality of pictures in ebook, they are likely scanned and could have been better...

Presos de sus palabras es un libro que comencé sin ninguna expectativa… pero el cual me encanto un montón.
Es la primera vez que leo algo de estas autoras, pero ahora (después de leer este libro) sé que no será el último, porque me he quedado muy satisfecha con lo que encontré y quiero más.
La historia es excitante, viene muy cargadito… pero no se pasa con las escenas de sexo, hay algo más detrás, una historia que hará a uno sonreír, querer matar a alguien, sentir todo lo que padecen los personajes.
En cuanto a ellos, los AME a todos, cada uno tiene ese algo especial que no dejara a nadie indiferente.
SE LOS RECOMIENDO, PORQUE SIN DUDAS LES ENCANTARA, además, se lee muy rápido ^^
