Hybrid of Modern and Old

I have the same book published many years ago. This new book, in some way, in not new. Because Joe keeps the same content. What is new is that some new exercises are added.
For the content, Joe is one of the greatest talented and dedicated drums teacher in the world. His ideas are brilliant. Though they are from many years ago, but it always sound refreshing and modern! I take it as my teaching material and find it very helpful to my students, and myself as well.
A must have book for drums lover.

A great book, but it has strange notation. It's different than what I'm used to.
Joe Porcaro teaches us how to use rudiments to use in drum fills, which can be adapted to any genre of music.
The Mp3 tracks are very good to listen to also.

Joe is a renown Jazz, Big Band, Session Drummer / Percussionist, and Educator. This book is well laid out and easy enough for a beginner, but challenging for an advanced player. For those with a rudimental background this book takes those skills to another level with a eye on "Feel" and "Swing" . For those just learning rudiments it opens a world of possibilities.
